The 29th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, Isaac was limited to just 41 games last season due to health issues that ultimately required surgery to remove a brain tumor. Now 22, the left-handed slugger is working his way back into form and looking to reestablish himself as a key piece in the Rays’ system. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, Isaac features plus raw power with an advanced offensive approach. Across 250 MiLB games, he’s amassed 47 home runs and 30 stolen bases, showcasing a rare combination of strength and athleticism for his size. He demonstrates strong pitch recognition and a willingness to work counts, walking at a 15% rate, but swing-and-miss has remained an issue, as evidenced by a 27% strikeout rate over his career.
Isaac showed encouraging signs this spring with the big league club, going 6-for-15 with a .500 on-base percentage across 18 plate appearances. After a brief stint in extended spring training, he has since joined Double-A Montgomery, where he’s gone 3-for-17 with a home run and a .417 on-base percentage through his first five games. If he can better manage the swing-and-miss, Isaac’s combination of power, patience, and athleticism gives him the upside of a middle-of-the-order run producer and a potential impact bat at the major league level.
